THE DISTRICT OFFICE SUMMER HOURS ARE
MONDAY - THURSDAY 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Technology and Library
Instructor: Mrs. April Graves
Welcome to technology and library!

Technology: All grade levels at Highland Elementary attend computer class one day per week. This year we are using Typing Club to help students learn their way around the keyboard in all grades excluding kindergarten. Students have given this keyboarding curriculum many compliments and have even asked to work on this at home. Look for more information on this coming soon. Kindergartners are working on becoming familiar with computers, enhancing their knowledge of computer parts, computer safety, and exploring some educational websites.
Looking ahead, students will begin working on a Google slides project requiring Internet research, note taking skills, and inserting images to help further explain their topic (third and fourth graders are doing states and fifth graders are doing reports on countries). They will continue to further their comfort level with technology, how it works, and how to navigate their way safely through the Internet.  Students in grades kindergarten, first, and second are continuing to use the Teach Your Monster To Read program during technology time to become more comfortable using computers as well as to integrate phonics and reading into the computer lab.  Their progress in very impressive!  Lastly, kindergartners will work on Moby Max, a mathematics curriculum, to help them learn how to use computer keyboards, mice, and other computer basics.  They enjoy this website because their hard work earns them game time!
Please contact Mrs. Graves with any questions or comments.

Library: Students attend library where they enjoy listening to and reading stories, checking out books, and learning how to behave while in a library setting. To see what books are available through our library, please scroll down to the internet links section.

Feel free to contact Mrs. Huseby with any questions or comments.
